Post at 28 June 2021

On June, 4th, 2021, FAPBM warmly welcomes a new Executive Board and two new members inside its Board of Trustees [1]. The newly elected members of the Executive Board are:

  • Ny Anitry Ny Aina (Nanie) RATSIFANDRIHAMANANA, as President of the Board
  • Ratafika DIMBINDRAIBE, as Vice-President of the Board
  • Fredy RAJAONERA ANDRIAMBELO, as Treasurer.

The incoming members of the Board of Trustees, co-opted for a renewable 4-year term, are:

  • Bruno Tsing Yat RAJASPERA[2], Director of Community Resource Support of Conservation International – Madagascar;
  • Fredy RAJAONERA ANDRIAMBELO[2], Deputy Director-General of Chocolaterie Robert.

In accordance with the governance rules of FAPBM, this series of co-optations took place following the end-of-term of two trustees, namely Sahondra RAJOELINA, former President, and Naritiana RAKOTONIAINA. After 2 years at the Presidency of the Board of Trustees, the outgoing President, and Country Director of Conservation International – Madagascar, recalled, with emotion during the handover ceremony, the values that have stimulated her term: optimism, passion, willingness. Under her presidency, FAPBM has increased its capital and supported protected areas, which have increased from 31 to 36. Major reforms have been initiated, such as the implementation of an environmental and social safeguard framework. All those have put FAPBM in a strong position to continue to fulfill its missions.

 The new President of the Board Nanie Ratsifandrihamanana, also Country Director of WWF Madagascar, reaffirm her willingness to pursue the undertaken works to strengthen, through the FAPBM, the sustainable financing of the System of Protected Areas of Madagascar. She stressed the need to work together with the all the key actors to succeed in the challenges of conservation. The strong experience and the multiples skills of FAPBM’s collaborators, she said, are mobilized to support the preservation of the biodiversity and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, the prime of this natural capital. Thus, accompanied by the Executive Board and the Executive Director (Mr. Alain Liva Raharijaona), she had a meeting with Mrs. Baomiavotse Vahinala Raharinirina, Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development and executives of the Ministry on June 25th, 2021.
