Each year, a funding agreement is entered into between site managers and FAPBM to support the annual work plan activities for each protected area. FAPBM aims at measuring the impacts of its funding, not only on protected areas and biodiversity conservation, on local populations, but also on the management quality of the managers.

Dashboard to monitor the performance

The KPI has been thus set up by FAPBM  to monitor the site managers’ performance concerning the different components of the annual financing agreements. These aspects cover administration, finance, technique, internal and external audits, the protected areas management effectiveness, etc. The KPI (Key Performance Indicator) includes key indicators related to each components.

KPI in 2020: 73.61% for MNP and 71,21% for NPA

Since 2017, KPI values have been growing steadily. From 63.52% for sites managed by Madagascar National Parks (MNP) and 59.56% for New Protected Areas (NPA) in 2017, these have risen to 73.61% for MNP and 71.21% for NPA in 2020. It should be noted that the KPIs value positively influence the level of biological integrity in protected areas funded by FAPBM.
