The protected areas of Anjozorobe Angavo (Analamanga – Alaotra Mangoro Region, Eastern Madagascar) and Bombetoka (Boeny Region, North-Western Madagascar) have received fundings from the Support Fund for Protected Areas Strengthening (FAR). FAR is a one-time funding from FAPBM intended to support the acquisition of additional and/or complementary knowledge that is necessary as a result of some development and/or changes in the context. It is therefore intended to carry out the following activities: species research, studies, approval of PAGs, knowledge acquisition. Any protected area of the Madagascar Protected Areas System (SAPM) can submit an application.

The protected areas of Anjozorobe Angavo received MGA 40,000,000 (USD 10,000) for conducting an inventory of the biological wealth of the Anjozorobe Angavo PA as part of the PAG update. As the financing of the other components of the PAG update was already secured, Fanamby (the manager) proposed to FAPBM to fund the inventory. FAPBM considered the activity to be very relevant, as its results would help define the areas for improvement in the management of the New Protected Area (NPA). The goal is to have scientific data on species, their number, their variety, their density, etc., which will help get a better understanding of ecological communities and their interactions within ecosystems and a better management of biodiversity.

Bombetoka received MGA 10,000,000 (USD 2,500) to finalize and update the administrative and financial operations manual of DELC Mizana Maitso (manager). The funding will support the assistance of an expert consultant who will help to complete the work already carried out internally. Required by the Technical and Financial Partners, this update of the operations manual would allow DELC Mizana Maitso to become a better structured organization, thereby increasing the opportunities for collaboration and partnership.

FAPBM receives requests for FAR throughout the year. Applications should be sent to the following email address: randriantsoa@fapbm.org.
