A bit of history

"Before they grow so big, the baobabs start out by being little" (Saint Exupéry)
Like the tree of life, Madagascar Biodiversity Fund will gradually work towards achieving the preservation of the totality of marine and terrestrial protected areas by managing 4 types of funds:
  • Endowment fund
  • Sinking fund
  • Revolving fund
  • Management mandate
For over 10 years (since 2005); Madagascar Biodiversity Fund has been actively involved in such a way that our biodiversity and protected areas can enjoy an exceptionally long lifespan, just like the Baobab tree (more than 1000 years for the baobab). In this way, they will be able to fully embrace their role which is sustain life.
Created under the leadership of the Malagasy state, Conservation International and WWF, and thanks to the trust of donors such as Conservation International, WWF, the French Development Agency (AFD), the KFW, the World Bank/Global Environment Fund,.... Madagascar Biodiversity Fund could act for the conservation of 41 protected areas spread over 3 million hectares in 2016.
