Economic value

The reefs and seagrass beds are associated with numerous species of corals, fish, reptiles, crustaceans, mollusks, and echinoderms. They provide enormous socio-economic benefits to local communities through fishing and tourism activities, not to mention the ecological services that these ecosystems provide for the balance of the planet and human well-being.

Initiatives of the populations

Like all protected areas managed by MNP, the management of the Nosy Ve Androka National Park is collaborative co-management with the participation of members of local communities in conservation and development activities. They are grouped into CLPs (Local Park Committees) and COSAPs (Committee for the Orientation and Support of Protected Areas).

FAPBM contribution

The support of FAPBM to the Nosy Ve Androka National Park began in 2018 under the funding of the German Government's Sinking Fund. For protected areas managed by MNP, FAPBM ensures the security of salary charges and some operating expenses.
