Ala Hiriky-Mandrare : A Landscape for the Future of Biodiversity and Communities in Southern Madagascar

The Ala Hiriky–Mandrare project is an ambitious conservation initiative implemented in the Anosy and Androy regions. This ambitious project, funded by the Danish Hempel Foundation and managed financially by FAPBM, forms part of a landscape-level approach aimed at preserving the ecological integrity of one of Madagascar’s last remaining bastions of thorny forests, whilst sustainably improving the living conditions of local communities.

Ala Maiky Ankarafantsika Project: Let’s work together to save one of Madagascar’s largest dry forests

Home to one of Madagascar's largest dry forests, Ankarafantsika National Park is recognized by UNESCO for its Outstanding Universal Value and classified as a RAMSAR site for its sacred lakes. It is home to unique biodiversity, including many endangered endemic species, as well as a rich cultural heritage. The park also plays an essential role in climate regulation, food security, and maintaining the livelihoods of local communities.

BRIDGE Project: building a bridge between private financing and conservation.

Madagascar Protected Areas and Biodiversity Fund (FAPBM) has received financial support from BRIDGE Project, a joint initiative of the Consortium of African Funds for the Environment (CAFÉ) and the Latin American and Caribbean Environmental Funds Network (RedLAC). This project aims to establish strategic alliances between the private sector and trust funds, such as FAPBM, to address the funding gap in the field of conservation.
